Unique gourd art to be exhibited at The Gallery at Main on First Friday

As part of First Friday activities on September 7, the Gallery at Main Street will feature 15 regional artists with a "Wildlife" exhibition.

Focusing on wildlife art, the gallery will also include landscape art along with other pictoral scenes.

One of the featured artists is Marty McConnaughey who offers a new twist on gourd art. Her work is displayed in homes and galleries throughout the United States and Canada.

The Gallery at Main Street, located at First Baptist Church in downtown Knoxville, will be open from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Complimentary homemade refreshments will be served.

Another exhibiting artist is Aurora Bull. Aurora is the recipient of many awards and honors; from juried exhibitions to being a featured artist in North Light artist magazine. Her paintings hang in numerous corporate and private collections throughout the United States and abroad.

Six members of the First Baptist Church art class will exhibit various forms of art. Also exhibiting is Gloria Nelson with her still life oil painting. Gloria is currently an active member of the Arts and Culture Alliance in Knoxville, Blount County Arts and Crafts Guild, Tennessee Artists Association and National Oil and Acrylic Painters of America.

Photography partners Holly Higgins and Rick Peebles will display their "hard to get" photos of Smoky Mountain wildlife.
