Pick the Flicks for Movies on Market Square

KNOXVILLE -- It's time for Knox County Public Library's Movies on Market Square. On September 7, the 9th season of fido-friendly outdoor movies launches its fall line-up. Every Friday night from September 7 - October 12, the public and their beloved four-pawed companions are invited to a free, family movie presented by PetSafe.

The big bow wow is that the public gets to pick the flicks. Voting for the 2012 movie series runs from August 8 - 27 at www.knoxlib.org/movies. Choices in 6 categories are all rated PG-13 or less. This year's top contenders range from The Hunger Games to The Blind Side; Talladego Nights to Pee-wee's Big Adventure. The perennial underdog continues to be the 1976 classic film, Rocky, which begs to be chosen this year as the organizers keep their fingers crossed. Movies on Market Square is a fun-filled night for the entire family.

The winning line up will be announced on August 30 in Metro Pulse and on www.knoxlib.org.

The Library produces Movies on Market Square to highlight its vast movie and music collection. With nearly 13,000 titles of feature films, documentaries, TV shows, and how-to films, the movie collection is one of the most popular circulating collections at the Library.

Knox County Public Library could not produce this free outdoor movie series without the generous support of PetSafe, Sam's Clubs, The Tomato Head, the City of Knoxville, Downtown Knoxville, KUB, Lunar Cinemas, Metro Pulse, WBIR, Comcast, and B97.5.
