Athfest set for June 20-24, 2012 in Athens, GA

ATHENS, GA -- AthFest, known as the southʼs finest music and arts festival, is scheduled for June 20-24, 2012 in downtown Athens, GA.

This four day festival will feature over 200 bands and artists performing on the 3 outdoor stages and in a dozen venues.

The artists headlining on the AthFest Mainstage this year will be: Friday, June 22: Reptar and Atlas Sound (co-headliners); Saturday, June 23: The Glands; Sunday, June 24: Yacht Rock Revue.

All performances on the outdoor stages are open to all ages and are free of charge to the public.

Along with the musical offerings there is also a free Artists Market that has 50 local and regional sculptors, painters, weavers, and other visual artists. There is a kid and family friendly area called KidsFest that has free hands-on arts activities for children and free performances by local adult musicians playing specifically for kids. To round things out there are local filmmaker showcases at Ciné organized by Film:Athens and the Flagpole Magazine Athens Music Awards at the historic Morton Theater.

The AthFest "club crawl" takes place on the Friday and Saturday nights of the festival. Wristbands for the "club crawl" may be purchased for $15.00 in advance or for $20.00 at the festival. Venue age restrictions will apply.

AthFest Music and Arts Festival has been included in the "TOP 20 Events for June" by the Southeast Tourism Society since 2002.
