The WordPlayers Presents: Leaving Iowa
KNOXVILLE – The WordPlayers will be presenting the play Leaving Iowa in November at The WordPlayers' Theatre @ MCM..
Leaving Iowa, by Tim Clue and Spike Manton, is a hilarious, sentimental comedy about family, family relationships, and family vacations. It is the story of a writer who returns home and decides to finally take his father's ashes to his childhood home, as requested. But when Don discovers Grandma's house is now a grocery store, he begins traveling across Iowa searching for a proper resting place for his father. This father-and-son road trip shifts smoothly from the present to Don's memories of the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood.
The play is recommended for ages 12 and older.
The WordPlayers is a community of theatre artists dedicated to ministry through the theatrical exploration of Judeo-Christian values. Support for the 2011-2012 season has been provided by Delta-21 Resources Inc. (Gold Sponsor), Cornerstone Foundation and, for this production, by A&W Office Supply.
