Celebrate the Martin Luther King Holiday with Some New Orleans Funk
Big Sam's Funky Nation, led by trombone powerhouse "Big Sam" Willliams is performing at The Square Room on Monday, January 17th.
Williams, formerly of the Dirty Dozen Brass band, has been celebrated as "the top man on the slide trombone in the birthplace of jazz" by the San Francisco Chronicle. This is an entertainer who rules the party, refusing to let the audience stand still with his signature dance moves and call & response MC style. The Funky Nation is a driving force of urban funk and their genre-bending music is best described as Noladelic Powerfunk.
This summer, BSFN was dubbed "The hardest working band at Bonnaroo 2010" by the
festival's own Bonnaroo Beacon. To see videos and read reviews from Bonnaroo 2010 click here. From their role on HBO's new hit series Treme, to the band's spring tour of Greece, to their late night rager at the Gathering of the Vibes, to their performance at
the 50th anniversary of Jazz à Juan in Antibes, France -- and everything in between --
Big Sam's Funky Nation's party is captivating audiences worldwide!
The Square Room is located on Market Square in downtown Knoxville.
