Tennessee Technology Center cosmetology student wins Outstanding Student of the Year regional competition
KNOXVILLE -- Jessica Waters, a student in the Cosmetology and Manicuring Program at Tennessee Technology Center of Knoxville won the East Tennessee regional Outstanding Student of the Year competition. She competed on Thursday, December 6, 2012 against students representing 7 other campuses in the Tennessee Technology Center system's eastern region.
To be a particpant in this competition, a student must be nominated by an instructor. In addition, the candidate must meet defining qualifications. These qualifications include the following: have an overall minimum grade point average of a B; recognize the impact technical education has on Tennessee's overall community; have a good sense of work ethic; have excellent conduct and strong character; have appropriate personal appearance; and possess strong communication skills.
As a regional winner, Jessica will go on to compete for the State of Tennessee title of Outstanding Student of the Year. That competition will be against the other two regional winners from Tennessee and will be held on March 19, 2013, in Chattanooga, TN.
