Knoxville-based Summit Strategic Solutions has named Dawn Zito as vice president of development.

Zito plans to pursue strategic business opportunities, attract and secure new clients, cultivate relationships with partners and identify new markets for the management services organization (MSO). Summit Strategic Solutions offers services and solutions to help physician practices, health insurance plans and self-insured employers gain a strategic, competitive and financial edge in the ever-changing healthcare industry.

“Adding Dawn to the team will help us grow the organization as an industry leader, first and foremost by recruiting new clients that, with our help, can achieve better outcomes and efficiency in practice management, population health management and value-based care,” Summit Strategic Solutions CEO Jack Thompson said. “Her background in healthcare sales and information technology, coupled with her passion for developing the business and proven ability to build relationships, makes her the right fit for our team.”

Summit Medical Group, one of the largest primary care organizations in East Tennessee, launched Summit Strategic Solutions in 2015 to develop innovative consumer-focused healthcare delivery systems.

Zito has worked extensively in healthcare business development. Prior to joining Summit Strategic Solutions, she was vice president of sales in payer/provider division for DST Health Solutions in Birmingham, Alabama. Zito previously served as vice president of sales and marketing for Health Data Vision, Inc., in Burbank, California; and director of business development for ArroHealth in Hauppauge, New York.

“I’m here to apply my passion for health and wellness and knowledge of risk adjustment and predictive analytics, while expanding my industry network,” Zito said. “By doing so, my ultimate objective is to grow our market share by empowering providers and health plans to utilize Summit Strategic Solutions’ services through the demonstration and delivery of our proven outcomes and value-based care solutions.”

After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, Zito earned her master’s degree in business administration from The University of Miami in Florida, where she studied healthcare administration in addition to the core MBA curriculum. She is native of New Jersey and currently resides in Tampa with her husband and their four teenage children.
