Tony Thompson joins Pinnacle as Blount County manager

Financial services veteran Tony Thompson has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as senior vice president and area manager of client services for Blount County.

 
KNOXVILLE – Financial services veteran Tony Thompson has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as senior vice president and area manager of client services for Blount County. Pinnacle is the second-largest bank holding company headquartered in Tennessee, with 29 offices in eight Middle Tennessee counties and five offices in Knoxville.

“Tony has an outstanding reputation in the financial services community,” Pinnacle’s Knoxville Chairman Missy Wallen said. “His tremendous expertise and knowledge of the East Tennessee market, combined with his 35 years of experience, will be great assets as Pinnacle expands to Blount County.”

Thompson spent his entire career at First Tennessee Bank, most recently as executive vice president and commercial banking manager, where he provided leadership for business and commercial banking units.

Prior roles included serving as market president for First Tennessee’s Middle and East Tennessee markets and community president in Maryville. Thompson began his career with the commercial and retail training program at Knoxville’s Valley Fidelity Bank, which was acquired by First Tennessee in 1991.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and has completed studies at Louisiana State University – School of Banking of the South, the Tennessee Bankers Association Commercial Lending School and its Advanced School of Commercial Lending.

Thompson serves on the executive board and is past finance chair for the Boy Scouts of America – Middle Tennessee Council and is on the executive board of Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee. He also serves on the advisory board and is chair elect of the Brentwood YMCA and is on the board of Nashville Downtown Partnership.

Thompson will work out of Pinnacle’s Northshore Drive office in Knoxville until the firm establishes a temporary loan production office in Blount County. Pinnacle plans to open a new full-service office in Blount County next year.
