Public Market Opens at Turkey Creek

By Knoxville Daily Sun Staff

On Friday, August 12, 2011 Knoxville's newest and biggest market, Public Market, opened at Turkey Creek. The flea market includes over 400 venders and 162,000 square feet of space (over 3 football fields).

There was a huge turnout for opening day, and shuttle service was provided from the large parking area to the front door.

Many varieties of items are being sold and the market includes restaurants, bakeries, butcher shops and fish markets on the inside. An outdoor area has been reserved for a farmer's market. It is anticipated that the farmers will be bringing their goods to the market in September during harvest time.

The farmer's market will be broken down into two sections; locally grown and regional grown. The back section will include a liquidation area that buys overstocked inventory from area stores and sells it at bargain rates.

Public Market will also include tradeshows as well as top shelf entertainment and special events throughout the year.

Situated just off Lovell Rd in West Knoxville, close access to the interstate, and the success of Turkey Creek make it a perfect location. The market is where the old outlet mall once stood at 11221 Outlet Drive. This area had been vacant for over 8 years.

Business hours will be Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
